Upgrading

Whenever an application is republished, the newly published application is accessed, WorkflowFirst analyzes the database at hand to determine what will need to be changed to run the new application updates. It does this all automatically without any intervention required by the user. It also performs the upgrade once, and it won't need to be run again until more changes are made and the application republished. During this time the application will display a 'Please Wait' caption at the top of the browser screen, and will automatically reload the page when the server upgrade is complete.

The WorkflowFirst system itself often has updates available, and will usually have a positive effect on your applications with the introduction of new functionality, fixes to existing problems, or performance enhancements.

All upgrades to WorkflowFirst itself are performed in the WorkflowFirst Launcher application or through the Designer app. Instructions on upgrading can be found in the section on installing hotfixes.

Note : Updates are cumulative, so each update incorporates the changes from the previous updates.

After WorkflowFirst Launcher is restarted the recent changes will be enabled across all of your applications. Also, occasionally you will need to republish your applications to see the changes.

Always read the list of changes that go into the release, and keep in mind that you may have skipped a couple of releases so look at all the changes that have occurred since your current version of WorkflowFirst. There may sometimes be instructions in the change list that need to be followed, and sometimes new features will include a description of how to use that feature.
