Publishing

Publishing is the process by which your end-user application is generated. When published, an existing application will restart and may be unavailable for a few seconds as the database is reconfigured and the server starts up.

When publishing, the parameter form that appears allows you to select the server to publish to. This compiles the application and copies all of the changes onto the specified server.

If no 'Publish To' is specified, then the first 'Development' type server is selected for the application and that is used. Typically development servers are updated a lot more frequently than production servers.

Publishing the application increases the version number by 1. It should therefore be impossible to have the same version number on two servers. This is intentional to uniquely identify the specific configuration at the time of publishing.
